Bay Rum is one of the very first fragrances we ever worked with at Virginia Soaps and Scents. It’s right up there with Lavender and Sandalwood as a classic scent. If you’re wondering where the name came from, sailors used to soak bay leaves in rum (sailor’s grog) and use it as an antiseptic to treat cuts and other wounds that occurred from their shipboard duties. But the smell of the sailors became popular when they came into port and the concoction caught on with barbers in England, who began using it as an aftershave antiseptic.
This is the first time in 17 years that we have updated the look of our Bay Rum soap but it’s the same incredible fragrance as always.
